Help please new laptop on xp older cr writerHp 8200 got disc from HP no use.uninstalled then restored several times! read some of the forum msgs & pleased I am not alone!! also tried other discs yes it will read existing discs trying to find what software I need to try next!! help

from reading lots of articles on this they all say pretty much the same story they tried everything and still no go !? most bought new cd writers as they are pretty cheap now even for the latest models !?

maby try emailin Hp direct and asking them to help you more as their driver disk did not help ?!

Thanks Viper think I will have to invest in new! It has become a private mission to get this working! Looking at getting a DVD Burner but scared nothing works with XP any advice with make compatible. hoping to get dig cam working with some software! Have spoken at length to HP with no useful help!

if the worse comes to the worse then its a think about format and install windows 98SE or other personally i use 98se because of the problems that win xp and win me has with older hardware issues
