I swear problems with pc's are making my hair fall out!!

My mrs laptop (dell latitude cpts) has got serious video problems; grainy lined display and constant crashing/freezing. I've tried flashing to the latest bios and installing the latest video drivers with no joy

Tried re-seating the ram as insrtucted by some dell 'expert' with no joy.

The only other possiblity is the video card itself; ATI mobility M1.
This is molded part of the mobo and non replacable as far as i know; but i'm trying to find a way of testing it; like a video ram tester. I've looked but so far only come accross ones for nvidea cards.

Anyone know a solution or something I could at least try??

I would be most grateful, I know someone here will come to my rescue
