Check in your bios settings that you have assigned an IRQ to your vga card in case that you have an enable/disable option turn it to enable, if you´re already ok then check for conflict with resources.

Also deinstall both vga and wdm drivers, reinstall directx and chipset drivers then install vga drivers restart and then reinstall wmd drivers all of this in this order.

If still have problem post what OS are you using.

All my irq's are in auto assign,
tried deinstalling/installing in the order you suggested,
      still "device cannot start code10
ohh, XP Pro by the way. (all updates to date) without sp1

the only thing i can think of now is my soundcard is in pci slot 1
maybe there is conflicts with the creative wdm drivers ?
I may swap it with my modem , see what happens !!
I didnt see an option to assign an irq to agp only pci slot 0 to 5
(or is pci slot 0 my agp?)
      thanks for reply.

spider.... your video capture used to work before you upgraded these drivers, yes?! If so, it may be the reference drivers.

Most card manufacturers modify their drivers based upon the Nvidia reference ones. The amount of driver modification depends on how different the card is from the reference . So something may be missing from the reference ones you downloaded.

Have you tried the latest drivers posted at your vid card manufacturers website?

No it has never worked, its a new card. (MSI GTi4200 128ddr)
My XP Pro detected these devices on the card ....

      WDM A/V Crossbar
      WDM TVAudio Crossbar
      WDM TVTuner
      WDM Vidio Capture (universal)

so i installed nvidia WDM v1.23 drivers with these results :

      WDM A/V Crossbar............. working properly
      WDM TVAudio Crossbar........ working properly
      WDM TVTuner ............ working properly
WDM Vidio Capture (universal)..... device cannot start (code10)

also tried many other drivers including the MSI ones i had with the card.
Ive also got an MSI mainboard (KT3 Ultra2-raid) which makes it more confusing.

I have an MSI mobo and have found this forum to be quite useful. Maybe you will too.
      http://www.amdforums.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=12

Some "experts" in this forum have determined exactly what IRQ is shared with each PCI slot and the AGP slot. Rule of thumb is SBLive! goes in PCI slot 3 I believe to reduce conflicts. I don't think that PCI slot is shared at least not on my K7TPro2A.

They have a video card forum too.

I will also change my pci slot for 5.1 card to slot 3 + see if that works.
      thanks for info.

No , it still wont have it !!!!!!!

i did read in a forum somewhere that changing the psu from a 300w to a 350w worked in some cases.
I may try that, but only if i'm desparate !!!!!!!!

Why don´t you try first to run your vga card in another system to see if it works well (preferably a system with a different config) if you don´t have one maybe some friend could let you do that.

If you can get your card to completely work in another system then you´ll be sure that something is wrong in your sistem.

I have the exact same Video Card (the MSI one) and the drivers on my CD that came with it work fine in my XP installation. I did try the latest from nVidea and they didnt work at all, went back to the MSI one's and it works everytime. I have an ASUS m/b though.

      NVidea WDM Video Capture

I have exactly the same problem. Maybe it's a driver problem (not approved by MS XP ??

As I said, use the drivers on the cards Drivers CD and NOT the nvideo reference ones downloaded off the net.
