      Angry Problem playing audio cd's

      I just tried to start windows 2000 cd player and I get a message saying:

      "The MCI(cd audio) service or the cdrom is not responding.....

      check the sound and multimedia hardware tab to see if it is working."

      Everything seems OK there.

      But I can play cd's in sound forge etc. but not the windows cd player. I reinstalled the sound card(game theater) drivers and codecs but it still won't work.

      Can anyone help me please?

      try to disable or enable "digital playback" at your CDROM drive in the device manager;
      maybe a filter driver installed by a burning software blocks the windows 2000 cd player;
