I bought a graphic card msi g4 mx440 with agp8(nvidia geforce4 mx-440 with agp8--written on card and box)....It`s a 64 mb and its got video in and video-tv out...I paid 140$ canad.....Question is:All other cards are 200(ati 7500 aiw 64 mb)or more...And now im thinking something must be wrong with this kind of card couse it came with good software package(10 cds),2 s-video cables,2 rca cables for video......So if you guys know something about this card or somebody told you something,please let me know--since i got the bill and i can return it for refund in 2 weeks.....Thanks a lot!!!

I have a GF4 MX-440 /64M card on my main puter (not the MSI one), and the only thing I can tell you is that MX440 is a complete waste of money...
Actually my former GF2/Ti200 was faster, more compliant and cheaper.
Sorely enough I don't have the Ti anymore.

AGP 8x, Video in and out?
Well, with the ATI 7500 AIW, you're looking at a TV tuner as well.

The Geforce 4 MX is little more than a turboed-up Geforce 2 - basically DirectX7 hardware, rather than the DX8 of The Geforce 3 and Geforce 4 Ti.

The ATI 7500 is also a Dx7 card - Their DX8 range starts with the 8500, with DX9 from the 9500 onward.

If you care about RECENT games - you want DX8 hardware, otherwise anything will do.

The GF4 MX is a terrible con on people who think they're getting a "real" Geforce 4, since the Geforce 3 WILL blow it away, but it should not be a BAD DirectX7 card - other than they started knocking out wierd SDRAM versions in true Nvidia (original, higher, lower) style.

It says it's DDR.
It also says DX8.1 - but that's software support, as the hardware is only DX7 - so if the featured games demand much in the way of DX8-specific features, you'll be turning features off to keep the frame rate up.

It'll blow my Geforce 2MX away, but don't rocketing 3Dmark scores or exceptional framerates in gameplay.

On DX7 stuff, it may well beat an ATI 9000 (cheapest DX8 card), but once DX8 features bite, DX8 hardware will leave it in the dust.

Well,first is that i dont need a tv tuner--couse anyway all my things i watch on tv--dont use a monitor at all--if a tv tuner is for that?...Also i dont play pc or any other games recent or not--too old for that So i needed just saome card if i wanna for example record some boxing from ppv...Also didnt look for some expensive videocards cvouse the only feature i need is tvout so all cards have it anyway!! Only game i like is diablo--so willk be good for that--couse its a old one!!that link was correct-thats the one....So i guess will try a capturing first and see how its for that?Thank you guys!!!!!

The only other point, if capturing video is what you want...

The video in version of Nvidia cards are far less widespread, and far less well known, than the ATI "All in Wonders" - that, or a separate capture card like a hauppage - but the included video suite means you might not need to worry as to the card being well supported - really, if it's got drivers, anything SHOULD work with it, but the knowledgebase is going to be much smaller than for more widespread video hardware.

Whats happening also is this;Before with same system,when i start pc,it goes up and desktop shows up--as we all know......When icons shows up---scortcuts to start fifferent proggys i could hear my hd working maybe 10 sec more--couse i got few proggys starting with windows like fsecure,kerio,meaya popupstopper....Now it needs between minut and minute and half????Only difference is that new videocard......Is that normal???On the tab for card its all default--no overclocking.....Also my motherboard is intel 82801 and its integrated video.....Now with this im using my videocard and its working couse before i didnt have tvout...Both settings in bios-agp and pci are working same??Which one i should go for....On this card its written agp8???Whats the difference???Any clues???

AGP8 - is the AGP 8x capable version.

Sounds like a conflict somewhere...
If you mean, init AGP first or init PCI first - that controls which is the primary display in a dual setup, but I don't think the onboard can participate in a dual setep anyway.

There may be a bios setting or jumper to disable the onboard, or it may just be automatic.

Especially if you have a spare PCI/AGP IRQ (less than 4 used by all PCI/AGP class cards - including onboard sound and USB), try moving the card which shares an IRQ with the graphics - no help if it's one of the onboard features though!.

Its a onboard and it cant be disabled..I guess thats why the pc is working both ways--pci and agp---so no help anyhow????

If your mobo is an Intel then when you insert your AGP card the onboard video is disabled automatically, a simple way to check this is to take a look at the device manager in windows and see if your AGP card is the only display device, if you find both of them then you can try to disable it in there to get a faster boot.

Its a intel82801 and agp is still the only one--and still 1.5 minutes boot time???

Try looking in the bois 4 a setting called VGA boot from, if it say pci, change it 2 AGP, then save settings & see if that speeds it up.If not then there is a prog/resource that slowing things down

Have U checked all Ur startup items?

Ps i find that zonealarm pro slows my desktop loading quite a bit
U could try swithchin modem of & only running firewall when online.
