      Question PC2700 memory

      My board is an ASUS A7V333-X part of the spec is :

      Processor

      Chipset
      North Bridge: VIA® KT333(CF)
      South Bridge: VIA® VT8235

      FSB
      333/266/200 MHz

      Memory

      Max. 3GB unbuffered PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 non-ECC SDRAM Memory
      (PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only)

      Could someone explain in simple terms what "PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only) " means ??

      I have installed 2x256Mb of pc2700 and 1 spare slot.Can I install any more pc2700 memory ?
      On the side of the box it said "Install Windows XP or better" so I installed LINUX

      Found my own answer,and acknowledge Overclockers.com as this is extracted from their site;
      "SiS 645 boards only support 4 banks of PC2700 DDR SDRAM, so being able to run only 2 double sided DIMMs is exactly what the specs say! And naturally, this is true for all SiS 645 and 645DX boards out there, as this is a chipset limitation."

      not my board ,but explains that

      1double sided DIMM =2 banks

      Sorted.
