      sound card

      will my onboard sound conflict with my sound card when i enable it ? , or would there be conflicts ?

      (onboard sound is disabled at the mo)

      There could be conflicts or not. If the devices try to use the same resources there will be, and it's not rare happening with plug & pray. Win9x has more tendency because it uses PIC instead APIC like Win2K/XP. The best thing you can do it's try, and if problems arise, disable onboard sound again or try to deal with plug and pray.

      There probably will be conflicts, so I would advise leaving the onboard disabled. As Fox pointed out they may (and probably will) be using the same resourses which will lead to conflicts, errors, and blue screens.

      IMHO, just use the best sound card you have and be done with it.
