Thumbs up Inkjet Printer "Conversion" Works!

Got My Canon injet printer lastnight, printed 6 CDs (one at a time)with out proper setup (caddy or tray) and they turned out really good, Going out right now to get supplies to make proper caddy and tray, I'm going to tray to make a longer caddy to print 6 cds in one pass.

No need to spend a mint on on a cd printer that only prints one at a time

This sounds really interesting, maybe some more info about your printer model would be great also.

It's a Canon BJC6000 got it for $55 on Ebay, it has a straight though paper path and can handle thicker paper, the only thing you need to do is make a "caddy" something to hold the CD and feed it in from the back, you can also make an extention or guide to make sure the caddy stays straight when it feeds in.

I just got done printing 32 for my sisters CD we just recorded, in the end it only costs under $1.60/CD, thats including the printable CDs, the jewel cases, the 4 page and shell inserts, and taking into account the ink used. Not bad at all.

If you do a search on EBay for Bjc 6000 (exactly as I spelled it) and check the title and desciption boxes, you will find a plastic caddy for a lot of Canon and Epson printers that allow you to do just a single disc at a time.

Yeah, but I don't know how thick those caddys are (and mine only coast $2 to make), you might have to open up the printer and modify the head track to raise it up. I don't know what other printers have a sraight though paper path, at least that inexpensive. Once I make my caddy to do 6 CDs at a time I'll post pics

      Canon BJC6000 Conversion ?

      @ ds211,

Perchance can you provide amplifying information about your Canon BJC600 “conversion” for printing CD and/or DVD disc?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

      Regards,

Sorry it's been so long, but I've been doing a lot of recording and cd printing/burning, built my HTPC/Diy Projector, went on vacation, and started my design on an automatic CD loader, so I don't have to sit there and put the CD's in one at a time, it will have a hopper that will hold 100 CDs and do it automatically!

Anyways the cd printer, as I said uses a Cannon with a straight though paper path, which means you can feed the paper though from the back of the machine instead of from the top, this way the paper doesn't bend it just goes straight though from back to front. The Caddy is just made out of poster board, just print on it like you would a CD label and cut out the hole for the cd to fit, than slap some paper on the back so the cd won't fall though, now you can just take this and feed it though with a printable cd in it and print like your printing a label, the extention is only to hold the paper in place while it's going though the printer, you'll see what I mean when you try it. I don't really want to go into more detail because I belive the guy selling the plans/info is not asking an unreasonable price, I was leary when I bought them but it wasn't a lot of money, and no I'm not affiliated with him or I wouldn't have told you this much, but this printer is a no brainer to print cds with, in the plans there's ways to modify other, better, printers which involve taking the printer apart, so Thats how I justify my telling you only this much. Now My automation system thats a different story...

[Oh, jut saw that Coaster found something, I didn't download his file but if it shows how to modify Epson printers it's probably the same thing]
