hp 690c printer question help req please

i was given a hp 690c printer without any software i downloaded
a driver for it but i have a few questions as i dont have its orignal
software where can i get it and do i need it to use the printer
or can i use a third party software if so what would anyone recommend for this printer and where can i download it
also the black ink has run out with just the colour ink left can i still
use the printer without the black. also was the 690c any good

You can use the basic print software of your os......
I dunno about a HP,but my Epson stops when I run out of black ink,or run out of coloured ink....

You can use a software called ScanSoft Paperport 8.0...thats what i used on my last 840c...and still use it with my new Hp Photosmart 7350...along with the HP Scanner Software
