NO PS3 in Europe for Xmas this year.

Sony will not be releasing the PS3 in Europe this year.

It's been confirmed by Sony that their next-generation gaming console incorporating Blu-ray DVD technology will not arrive in Europe in time for Christmas, in what must surely be a blow for retailers, gamers, and Blu-ray fans.
Quite apart from the advantage this will give to Microsoft and Nintendo in this important selling period, it potentially gives HD DVD a clear time advantage in Europe, just as it has had in the US.
The PS3, whilst primarily a games machine, made no secret of its cutting-edge Blu-ray technology, and would likely have been the first standalone consumer system to feature the latest drive.
