Wink CDRSoft back at the moment.

I see the cdrsoft site is back at the moment. I'm a bit puzzled by the "pay service" mentioned, but nice to see it back for however long. (started back on 15th I believe)

      A penny saved is ridiculous.

      Question

Why are you puzzled about the "pay service"? Where have you been lately? Read the forum threads now and then. It has been the hottest subject here the last 10 days N.B. has been financing this place out of his own pocket for looooong time, and if people likes this place, they will have to give a helping hand. So remember to close your POPUP-KILLER when you are around That's a great start.

      Question

Why SHOULDN'T I be puzzled chum ? A "pay" service defeats the whole bloody object. If you are paying per month then you may as well pay full price as you go to the makers. I have 2 paid for and 1 "testing" that I could have got from their site anyway.
I can certainly sympathise with NB needing to recoup money for his excellent site, and getting it from pop-ups is a great idea. I refuse to use pop-up killers on his site, which I enjoy reading for news. But $xx per month is something quite different.

      A penny saved is ridiculous.

It not the software you are paying for, It the bandwith your
pay for. Why should NB pay for the data you are downloading. ??
Yes, you can get all the stuff on other sites, but you have to use
a lot of time looking for it.

      Up to you

A lot of freebies are telling that "why shall I pay, - I can get it else where". Well Phil K, then I have a proposal for you: Go there instead of stealing money out of N.B.'s pocket.

Are willing to agree with you though, that payment isn't an excelent solution, but if this is the choice for having or not having CDRSOFT, we are many who want's to accept it.

But it is not final decided yet, as far as I know, so let's wait and see what N.B. comes up with

Listen pal. I steal buggerall out of NB's pocket. I'll bet that you were one of those with a pop up killer left ON till NB complained, and then spouted about others doing it - a hypocrite in other words. I NEVER DID USE A POPUP KILLER. As for all the software you presume I am downloading, dont judge me as the same as yourself.

Well done pal. You are the first charlie to make me angry on this excellent forum. You should get yourself off to the XP-erience site. Thats full of critical mouth-offs too.

      A penny saved is ridiculous.

Unhappy Phil K, you get me wrong

First of all, - yes I was one of those who did use a popup-killer before, because I did not know any better. I have openly committed that in this forum. (On the other hand, I have never been drawing a lot of bandwidth (few downloads/slow connection)). But still I'm quilty of using the killer before.

Phil K, I'm in no way accusing YOU of anything, My comment about popupkiller in my first reply to you was meant in a friendly way. And saying "Well Phil K, then I have a proposal for you: Go there instead of stealing money out of N.B.'s pocket" was meant in an ironic way. Sorry that you got that wrong.

If you look around in threads for the last 10-12 days, you will find some people posting there having very little left over for the problem N.B. has been facing due to the heavy use of bandwidth. And they are all telling, that what they can get from CDRSOFT they can get else where. If that's the case, then why do this people use CDRSOFT, and why did they "cry" alot when the page went down? That's my hole point.

According to N.B. (see other threads), popups alone will not be able to finance the site in the future, why he is trying to find another solution. That's where the payment comes in, - as one of many, many proposals to find a workable solution of financing the site (http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=1). N.B. doesn't like it, as the rest of us, but what to do?

Hope we now got things straigthen out

      Arrow Phil K

Hi mate , as I understand it the free service remains but with low bandwith ie slower.
If you want faster downloads ie high bandwith the payed service is for u.
You pays your money(or not!) and you takes your choice.
If I'm wrong I expect N.B. will post and say otherwise.

Guys it's time to look ahead. We know what went wrong, and have a chance to fix it.

N.B. will surely post his conclusions shortly. The site is back up.

A forum is an easy place to be misunderstood.I've done it myself a couple of times!I've taken things the wrong way.Glad you got it sorted!

I think when you're so used to "the lads" being so brilliant and understanding and helpful etc etc to get suddenly lectured and accused by people you dont normally have dealings with sort of catches you off balance and you...well...react. Sorry for being a pain in the rear lads.
