Plextor releases the Premium2 CD-RW!

Source cdfreaks.com:

http://www.plextor.jp/product/premium2/index.php

Some new (compared to the first Premium)

- added 2x and 48x writing speeds
- added Yamahas Audiomaster mode
- Varirec now can be set in .1 steps
- Gigarec 0.6x up to 1.4x (adding .9x and 1.1x settings)
- added Plexeraser
- short build (17cm)
---------------------------------------------------
Never had a premium plextor drive. Interesting new feature is 'AudioMaster mode'. Lately, i try to 'simulate' Yamahas audiomastermode with my Px-716A, ie: setting Gigarec to 0.8x in combination with Varirec to +1 or +2 ...

I'll buy one, just as a backup for my current good old Premium v1. Thanks for the info.

My Premium v.1 started spitting out one coaster out of three blank media inserted after just 200 burns, so I don't think I will honour their product- especially if this one also costs 100+ bucks... For serious ripping, I STILL use a seven-year old SCSI Ultraplex 40 TSi, which still works like a champ. Same goes for a Plexwriter 12/10/32S (also SCSI) which I gave to a friend some years ago, but everything from Plextor bought by me after the 12/10/32S was either a dissapointment (for its price), or a total failure (Plexwriter 24/10/40).
Thanks for the news, though.
