Question LITEON dvd rom trouble shooting .

I am facing a problem with my LITE-ON dvd rom LTR-523275.
It does not able to play some dvds.Though I was able to
play those dvds in asus dvdrom ...works fine but lite-on fails.
it says "please insert a cd on driver I:" when still there is a dvd in
driver I:
One thing some of my DVD's works fine in LITEON .

What may be the reason that I can not play other Dvds?
Do I need to upgrade my firmwire ?
Plz ...plz ... help me .

OS :XP(sp2)
Software: powerdvd

Did you already assign the matching region code to your new drive in Windows' device manager?

Greetings from

If it's an LTR-52327S , then it is a CD-RW drive, not a DVD-ROM, not even a combo.

If that's that case, it should not be able to play any DVD. Maybe what it does play is a Divx rip on CD?

The 165H Litey is a really old piece of hardware, and has trouble reading properly several modern media dye. Some DVDR brands it will read fine, while some others (mainly +R media) with errors, or not at all. Of course it will read fine any pressed DVD which is not horribly scratched.

Liteon have made a right dog's dinner of their firmware pages - might be worth updating, if you can find any.

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html - Probably best to go straight there, for 165H CH12 in stock, fast and slow/quiet forms - try the stock or the slow first, if it's not reading well - and if it does read, then you may want to try the fast. Most other links, including the official JLMS site, seem to be dead - JLMS.COM.TW seems to be on a junk domain parking service.
