Benq DW1640 - What do you think?

      Hello All

I was thinking of buying a Benq DW1640 DVD Burner within the next day or two and i was wondering what other people thought of it. Am i wasting my money, or are there other good burners out there that anyone else can recommend.

Any input would be much appreciated.

      Thanks.

Should be a very fine burner.......great piece of hardware for the $ you have to pay...
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.....

Equally good to Plextor PX-740 (factly: the same drive) and costing about half! So, it can't be a bad drive at all... I prefer NEC drives, but this is (partly) subjective.
Of course your BenQ can't utilize the fine program named Plextools, but PX-740 cannot fully utilize it, either (should we call it "not-a-real-Plextor"?).

The revolution cannot be a lever, or an essay, or tablaeu, or embroidery. It cannot proceed mellowly, piece-by-piece, gently, devoutly, simply and humbly.

I gather this drive is also rebadged as the Philips 8701 - which i now have due to it being in my new comp !
I am tempted to flash it to the Benq, but wonder if its worth it ?

      A penny saved is ridiculous.

I finally went for the benq and so i far i haven't looked back. I have no regrets about it. All the DL stuff that i have done and no problems. Great burner.
