Smile questions about DVD BURNERS what do u have and how do u rate it !?

THINKING of buying a bran spanking new DVD BURNER soon and i want honest opinions and views on the DVD BURNERS you own or have owned and a rating thanks (this will also be a good reference to others!)

ok guys/girls/other (you never know here lol )

give me a list of DVD burners you all use and a rating out of 10

1 being worst and 10 being the best

I want honest views and thoughts here on them it will save buying a duff drive

also please if possible to add Read/burn speed at its most reliable as i know not all disks burn at the same rate and other factors can influence

and if its a dvd-r or dvd+r or both

      thanks in advance all

hopefully everyone will get a better idea by reading this thread of whats good and whats to avoid

Mine is Sony DRU-500, one year old, and rated as "9"- exhellent burner, but it really despises certain media brands (Princo, CMC).

Can't go wrong with an OEM Pioneer 107 ... I was amazed at the price at my local computer fair, for a well respected drive. I was tempted, VERY

      Thumbs up

I have Optorite DD0401 and I find it to be great. I don't use it to rip and I don't us it to burn CDR's. As far as media goes I use G04's for - media. I use RICHJPN-R01-02 (+) which burn at 8x with out a problem. I use cheap + media CMC MAG-R01-00 which burn at 2.4x with out a problem. I bought them for like $9 for 25 pack I couldn't pass on that. I'll be happier when I see the firmware to be able to burn - media at 8x. But other than that I say I'd give it 9 and yes I would buy their product again.

The Optorite brings "HD-Burn" capability ... double the capacity on selected CD-R media, but despite claims that DVD-ROMS with modified firmware can read it, the only drive that currently can is the Optorite writer (and others with the same Sanyo chipset and feature enabled). A comment from a trader suggests that Optorite HAVE been reacting to and improving media compatibility.

The NEC ND2500 is getting there - a lot better media support than the previous models, and the price is pretty good for an 8x

Ive had Pioneers 105.106 and now the 107 apart from burning out from over use they work fine. The 107 seems to be more durable than the others and with the hacked fw I burn riteks fine at 6x and 8x.
