Major problems installing Pionner DVR-A07XLB!

I bought a Pioneer DVR-A07XLB saturday. I tried to install it on my seconday IDE channel as the master on my PC, by first removing a cheapo CDRW (BTC). Well it didnt work out. As soon as i rebboted the PC it started windows normally, got to the login page, logged in. Windows told me it "Found new hardware, Pioneer DVR-107" then the PC rebooted it self. Goes back to that point, then rebooted itself agian. next time i just let the PC sit on the Login screen, and after a few seconds, it rebooted itself again. i booted up in Safe Mode, and same problem, 'self-reboot'
i removed the slave drive (a memorex Cd-rom drive) and same problem. i put the Pioneer drive as the slave, same problem.
I took back the drive were i got it, and did an even exchange, thinking that i probably got a bad drive. got home, same problem.
i put back my old cdrw drive and everything is fine. i really dont understand.
System:
Athlon XP 2000
1.25GB Ram
Radeon 9800 Pro
Windows XP Pro. SP1
Mobo: ECS K7VTA3. Via KT333 chipset.

i went to my motherboard's manufacturer's website to download all the latest drivers for my motherboard. windows is updated. this sounds silly, but could it be that my motherboard just doesnt like this particular drive?

do u have any packet writing software like incd installed?ez cd creator?
think i have the same drive as u but my DFi mobo haven't raised any issue

the last thing u could try is to make a clean and fresh installation of your winxp... but try the drive at ur friends pc and c if its ok...

ah, yeah...actually i dont know anybody with a pc i could try this on...hmm...i have an old B&W (macintosh)....any alternatives i could try? i was looking at the Memorex True 8x....or the Sony 8x?

do u have any packet writing software like incd installed?ez cd creator?

... or DirectCD or DLA or anythin similar? such software may cause your problems too;

btw your reboot is a hidden BSOD, it would be helpful to disable "Automatic Restart": right click at My Computer > properties > enlarged > start and restoring (i'm not sure about the english terms)
so you will get a BSOD instead of a reboot; in the first three lines of the BSOD the trouble causing driver/software is named;

BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death

well ok. came back with another drive now. its a sony DRU-530A 8x blah blah. same problem. GRRRRRR took some advise and changed power supplies. first i tried the one i had laying around, same problem. just in case i bought a brand new 450W one when i exchanged the drives. same problem
this is what i got next time the machine rebooted itself:

i dont know what none of this stuff is....windows is weird....

i have Nero Burn, i thought i took out EZ creator but it still shows up in the 'add/remove software' control pane..hmmm....i also have Alcohol 120%, and CDMate.
this is getting to be very discouraging...

damn! it WAS EZCD Creator!! as soon as i uninstall it from my system, plugged the dvd drive back in, reboot windows---ta da! no more reboots! wow, almost done burning my first DVD right now. wow...to think that it was something as simple as that! dammit! now i'm thinking i should have kept the pioneer drive...oh well this sony is $40 cheaper...

as long as the sony does its job well,no need 2 worry or 2 flash ur drive

"Cdr4_xp.sys" is definitively an EZCD Creator driver file;
good to hear you got finally rid of it;
