Event 51, an error was detected on device CDRom0 during a paging operation.

My cdrom/dvd is not working.
Checking the event log shows me that the problem occurred when I tried to burn a dodgy dvd.
Performed the usual checks e.g., device manager, drivers etc.
Was using WinDVD creator. Also loaded is Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.
This is on a relitively new laptop (only 4 weeks old) and I cant go back to a restored setup as I havent had the chance to restore yet.

Has anyone ever fixed this problem?
