I was down at Peter's (Landmass Shipping) factory outlet on Friday to get some Ritec 4x DVD-R ($2.30 each)
They offered me Databank Gold 4x for ($2.20 each) claiming that they were simply rebadged Ritek. This claim matched what I had been told previously.
During our conversation, another customer joined in and said that the Databank Gold 4x were Ritek and he had confirmed this by doing a dye test.
Has does one perform a dye test?

I posted this before maby its also the same in this case too
To determine if the media IS a genuine 'RITEK' in Just Two EASY ways.
1) Color
Genuine Ritek (G03) should have a dark purple color. Other media may use light purple.
2) ID Code
The inner ring/band of the disc has the following serial number sequence:
XX-***************X.
The first part has 2 digits and the second part has sixteen digits.![]()
Thanks guys. I understand what you are saying and my media is confirmed via the serial number syntax and DVDInfoPro.
My question still remain though. What is a dye test?
