      Hmmm...seems as if the 411-S I bought was only a forerunner to the new improved 8x version...Resembles what Plextor did with the earlier PX-504A-they tested the DVD-R/RW water with the 504-then corrected the faults with the 504-turn it into an 8x-and hey presto!-the latest model appears as if by magic! Also seems the two companies' (Liteon and Plextor)first attempts at producing a DVD burner were just "experimental prototypes"

      I can only speak for myself but I am quite happy with my LDW-411S Lite-On drive. An 8x drive would have been better than 4x but hey I can wait the extra 8 minutes or so. Also, I have not had one media compatability issue yet whether it be + or- format. I know a lot of people have had issues with their drives but I'm quite happy with mine. Even before I did the 2 firmware upgrades I had zero issues with this drive. I guess I've just been lucky.

      @madmax-and so have I m8! (touch wood..) I`ve only flashed up to the 'official' 07 though-better safe than sorry...!
