      @ajr40-nice one,already flashed it though,but thanx anyway,nice 2 see you`re on the ball...
@bionic thanx 4 that,m8.Hope you don`t mind me havin` a share too...Already flashed the official "07" when I first saw it on the Liteon site. Not checked yours out yet...doing it now..opened it..crc error encountered on unzipping...fixed! Oh,"0B!" (aka 12?) How`s this one different to the "official" firmware?..We can assume it`s "region free" for a start?.and more media compatibility?..As always,I won`t use it till I know exactly what it is..time for a little closer inspection-now let`s look at the code..

@Pistol Hi & Welcome to the forum
Why not stop by here and introduce yourself to the rest of the members

No, im afraid it wont help you with dvd backup(movies), but it will help with the write\read quality and the media compability of the drive.
To upgrade the firmware remove any media in the drive, shut down antivirus and any programs running in the background and just execute the fs07.exe(dont use the fsob). Reboot and your done.
If your happy with your burner as is, i would suggest reading some more about firmware upgrading etc before venturing any further

      Heres lite-ons site

Plex, share away m8 Basicly it gives(supposedly) better burn quality with higher quality media, and worse with lower q ??. I use fs07 myself. Dont think it involves any region modding.
It can be found here (tried altavista but couldnt make heads or tales of it)

edit: looking foreward to your findings

Yeah,it`s not much different to the fs07,which is what I`m sticking to,like yourself.. I was expecting something more 'spectacular' from the fs0B! .I see from your link you got the fs0B from the Korean site?? BTW, here`s a hunch..Google sometimes give you the option of translating the site into English when its done its searchin`,I`ll try it-and see if it works...

      Nope,here`s a problem I wouldn`t mind solving..Google reports:
"The summary for this Korean page contains characters that cannot be correctly displayed in this language/character set."
      But,as almost always,there`s a solution.Now to find it....

Yeah, the FS0B`s compatible with more media (more media id`s stated)than the FS07 but the difference is only slight. Not really worth flashing an 'unofficial' if the difference is not that much. Why not play it safe, and use the tested 'Ritek' media (any..) instead?
Anyway here`s the full url link for the Korean site:

@bionic Thanks for the two links, some interesting talking points there-I think we`ve made the right move sticking with fs07 for the moment.I see some peeps have had problems flashing back to the fs07..!I`ve had this burner for a couple of days now.I`ve never had any problems so far.As I said earlier in another thread,I`ve been a "Plextor" man all my life, until recently..I bought a Liteon because I heard such good reports of their H/W from the good people of this site.Never seemed to have any media compatability probs with the
old plex.Have I made the right choice with this 411S?-only time will tell!

bionic-Have you tried the two pieces of free media (DVD-RW,DVD-R)you got with the 411S yet? I`ve never used it yet I`ve been using some (Ritek) Traxdata 4x,I had a few lying around, they`re good....
If so, what are the freebies like? They`re Ricoh(?) I think I might try `em soon...

Well, mine are ricoh. And they burn\burned just fine. Mind you i have an 401s@411s, so i got +rw\+r. Mostly been using verbatim +rs\+rws at 4x\2.4 with great results.

btw heres a nice tool to determine media brand.

BTW,Did you get "Sonic MyDVD" free with your burner? If so,have you used it yet,and what`s it like? If not-has anybody else used it?
