Hi all,
I want to buy a DVD writer and dont know what drive to get, I mainly want to back-up DVD movies and have seen the following drives advertised.
Sony DWU10A DVD+RW/+R -RW/-R oem (Bare drive/ no software)
£120.00+VAT - £141.00 Inc
Pioneer DVR-106 DVD+RW/+R -RW/-R 4 speed IDE OEM (Drive only)
£125.00+VAT - £146.88 Inc
NEC ND-1300A DVD+/-Rewriter oem (inc software)
£130.00+VAT - £152.75 Inc
They all seem good value but the offer ends today and I dont know what drive is the best, so any advice would be welcome.
I have just found the Pioneer DVR-106 for £129.99 inc vat and it is starting to look like a good choice?
Also what is the best media to back-up DVD movies to?

I think I will go for the Pioneer DVR-106. It should do my job and if 80% on this forum use Pioneer then it can't be bad.
Only thing I would like to know now is what media is best for DVD movie back-up, DVD+r or DVD-r , any ideas?

Hi
I have just bought a Pioneer 106 from SVPnice burner
http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...Section__.html
I have burnt 3 films so far using DVD Decrypter > DVD2One > cloneDVD
on SVP's ICE Branded 4X DVD-R (Shrink wrapped pack of 25 @ £19.99 )
http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...LICK_HERE.html
All 3 are good quality and play fine in 4 different DVD players
Good Luck
Hag
I think I will give the 4X RITEK DVD-R a try, I have used RITEK CD-R and they have always been up to the job, any comments?

Hi Hag,
I got the burner yesterday and think it's the mutts nu**s. I ordered the Ritek because I have used them for CD burning and always found them to be very good, so as I am new to DVD burning I wanted a disk that I knew was good so I could be sure that any failures was down to me but thankfully every burn so far is fine so next time I buy disks I think I will try the Ice.
