1) Not always.
2) The chances of your standalone reading DVD-RAM are pretty low.
If you are only ever going to use one format then there is NO point in buying a dual format drive like the Sony.
3) Probably.
DVD-RAM is the best format for data backup/storage.

) and compatiblle media for that drive--is that mean that when i record a movie with it--and give it to my friends--they will all be able to see it??3 questions--but actually just one--but important for me......And last one;My priority is hd backup and music--Which format is recomended for this(do i need that sony for that,or that pioneer is suitablle for that??
