I've been using this hack on my A05 for a while now and it works great.

What is the latest update on the 4X for all hack to burn all media at 4X?

I have been using this current hack for a while too. It is awesome for original DVDs, but still only 2X for ripping from DVD-R.

Yep only 2x from DVDR's that have been written at 1x or 2x. But will rip at higher speeds on 4x burnt DVDR's though. I rarely use it anyway as I have 2 DVDROM's also in my system for faster ripping. I use my burner to burn !

I've heard no news on the 4x4all and personally I think its pushing a 1x to far as the blanks clearly do not meet the 4x specifications as different dyes are needed for 1x and 4x. I think we are all lucky that most 1x blanks can be burnt at 2x actually.

I have a Toshiba 1502 reader also, but it sucks at ripping. Don't know why though. My A05 with the hack blows it away. So I switched to using it to rip and burn. Maybe I should swap out my Toshiba for my Lite-on 163 setting on the shelf?

Tanx mon. I'll do it tonight. I removed it from my wife's PC since I thought it was going bad. Replaced it with a Samsung then found out it was the ribbon cable. Both the Lite-on and Samsung rip at incredible speeds. She can copy a full 80 min audio CD of the fly to her Lite-on 40X burner in just over two minutes. Since the Samsung did as good as the Lite-on I left it in.

Come to think of it I could use the excellent twin sector reading capabilities of the Lite-on to backup some of my SecurRom 4 games. Consider it done.
