      Pioneer DVR105

I have heard that there is a firmware update that allows pioneer 104 to copy any dvdr at 2 speed even if it is only rated to 1 speed, is there a similar update that would work for a 105?

This is the spec of my 105

      PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105
      Current Revision : 1.00
      Release Date : 02/10/10

I have been having some problems with cheaper dvdrs of different varietys, would a firmware update maybe help me out here?

I recently got my hands on some 4 speed discs and they all worked a treat, so I am no to sure if it is a firmware issue or just cheap dvdrs.

      Cheers

They are working on a similar hack for the A05.No news yet.

The hack for the A04 works to a point. There have been failures because dvd media is unreliable, especially the 1x discs. So,discs written at 2X must be checked for errors.

A firmware upgrade won't help much as Pioneer has restricted writing only to Pioneer approved media.Hope that helps.

Pioneer have stated that they didnt want the 105 to be able to burn cheap dvd blanks so thats the problem there m8.Most of the new 4x speed blanks work good with the 105 with either the 1.0 firmware or the 1.21 firmware update.

I'm still using .052 that shipped with the drive.I see no reason to upgrade, other than to write to more 4X media.4X media is too expensive to use here in Canada.Just my own opinion of course.

I'll leave it for the now and hope that the 4 speed media becomes easier to get a hold of.

There is a worldwide shortage of the 4x speed media at the moment though so if you see some stock up on it m8.

1.21 works great for me too.
I wouldnt use the hack even if they bring one out.
There is a lot of crappy media out there that is barely capable of burning at 1x with any drive.
A hack would just give u a crc error fest.
Find a good media for u and stick with it.

Hmm, I keep seeing references to a firmware "1.22" on other boards. Is this an officialy released Pioneer firmware as 1.21 seems to be the latest official release AFAIK?
