Just my opinion, But why would anyone want to buy expensive 4x media for a burner that only burns at 2x? Unneeded download!
that´s true ...
maybe there are some general improvements ....not very easy to find it out with this changelog --> http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/multime...about_r3ta.htm
btw.
as always --> NO need to upgrade the firmware if everything is ok ...

But that's not the "Official" Firmware upgrade is it? I'm using the 1.20 2x 4 all and never have had a problem with any media or freezing at the end of a movie...so I'll stay with this one till I have a problem.Originally posted by joanna
the 1.40 fw 2xall
has great improvement
dvd-r dont freeze neer the end of the disc's
better 2x burning
isnt that enough?
try burn at 2x movies over 3.8 gig then look at
outter rim of disc , burn at least 5 then yourll know what i mean
official 1.40 just as good
but only lets you burn ritec disc's at 1x
I've burned over 20 disc's @ 2x over 4.0 gig and no problems.
Guys it not always the firmware thats at fault. Sometimes it's the media and/or burning apps and the use of it which is the problem.

what disc's did you burn @ 2x
and how much did you pay for them
i bet there the more expensive one's
i use dvd master gen 4 95p one's
if you burn these at 2x with any fw except 1.40
you get the errors (not at 1x)
Drives reacts a bit better identifying a DVD-R with stuff on it.
Are Pioneer really going to let go and allow user choice for 2x?

I've been using real cheap media....Accu silver\purple 1x @ .58 cents each.....1x Riteks @.85 cents each and "fake" tdk's at .71 cents each. I'm in U.S. In fact the Accu's from meritline.com have worked better than the fake tdk's.Originally posted by joanna

you use the media mentioned above
and burn @2x with no problems at all
with fw 1.20
you must be the only one on the planet
pioneer even admit the problems
Yeah, I guess I got a great drive! But I swear it's all true. I'll try to take some screenshots on my next burns to send you.
