DVDREasy Guide at afterdawn is WRONG !

      Hi,

Recently a guide has been posted at Afterdawn with the title "How to Copy a DVD movie to DVDR with DVDREasy".

      THAT GUIDE IS WRONG !

That guide states that you must first rip the files from your DVD to your HD by using DVDDECRYPTER and then use DVDREasy to do the conversion/backup based on the ripped files.

THIS IS FALSE ! DON'T RIP THE FILES TO YOUR HD MANUALLY.

DVDREasy does it all for you. Just put the DVD with the movie you want to backup in your DVD drive and in DVDREasy choose the IFO of the main movie from the DVD.

Could you be more specific . . .

In DVDREasy you picked, from your DVD-ROM, an IFO file corresponding to the main movie and you are seeing Runtime error 76 ?

Runtime error 76 means "path not found". Are you sure you are specifying the IFO from your DVD-ROM drive ?

      Ok,

      DVDREasy stops at MPEGinfo.
Are you sure you installed 0.6.2 correctly ?

      DVDREasy 0.6.2 Update (dvdreasy_062.zip) has :
      ----------------------------------------------
dvdreasy.exe - wich you must replace with the one existing in "C:\Program Files\DVDREasy"
      mpeginfo.exe - wich must be put in "C:\Program Files\DVDREasy\mpeginfo"

If you use a ZIP program, muke sure you check "overwrite existing files" and "use folder names"

If you open the ZIP by windows explorer you must grab MPEGinfo directory and dvdreasy.exe and drop them in "C:\Program Files\DVDREasy"

Please check if you have the directory "C:\Program Files\DVDREasy\mpeginfo" and in that folder the file "mpeginfo.exe". If not, you didn´t install dvdreasy 0.6.2 update correctly.

      Cheers,

      DVDREasy

Some DVD's have cropped up with a new protection, Sony ARccOS!!!! cladDVD .NET will basically 'fluff' on these, I don't have one of these DVD's so can't even test to see what happens. Some of the movies to have this ARccOS are the region 1 (US) versions of Evil Apocalypse, The Forgotten, Little Black Book, The Grudge and Wrestlemania. I've been told there is a way around it using a free program called DVD43, it's like a driver that will bypass the ARccOS protection whilst cladDVD .NET is ripping as usual. Like I said, I can't confirm this as I don't have one of these DVD's so if someone could let me know I'd be most grateful.

This comes from the site i have copy paste it.

      Hi all,

I think that i'm not breaking ANY law, since DVDREasy package doesn't include DVDDECRYPTER.

      But . . .

I have to consider modify DVDREasy to use ONE of this approaches :
      1) aim DVDREasy to use other FREEWARE ripper
      OR
      2) DVDREasy only deals with allready ripped material. User must use WHATEVER rip tools they want . . .

      Suggestions are wellcome !

      I think I prefer the second approuch . . .

      Cheers,

      DVDREasy

I agree on choice #2. Then it will be up to end user to provide "decrypted" material with which to do their backups on. Besides , I bet most folks who use your app are "hep" enough (or still have a copy of DVDDe sitting around someplace- heh) to figure out what needs to be done to get their files ready for backing up w/ DVDREasy.
