      One Pass VBR?

Are there any plans to add a One Pass VBR mode as DVD Rebuilder offers? It would make backups quicker while still retaining excellent quality!

      HI,

Yes, I intent to implement One Pass VBR mode !

But right now, I have almost ready a new release that works with all version of CCE.

After that, I will begin coding to implement One Pass VBR.

      Cheers

Thats brilliant news! CCE 2.5 won't run on my system for some reason so if I can use 2.67 it should work great. The one pass mode will be excellent too

      Sounds great!.....
While you're still working on that new release.....what about implanting "the new kid on the block",HCEnc???
Fairly new freeware encoder, but it's reputation is rising sky high....

      Hi,

      I'm implementing OPV in DVDREasy.

For now, only works with CCE . . .
The algorithm needs 3 passes (using 1% movie sample) to get the OPTIMAL Q value.
Tested with 3 movies and the final size (after authoring) is allways 4,3 GB.
All of them are PAL movies. I live in PAL land . . .I must put my hand on NTSC movie to see if the results are the same.
One of them was "THE MATRIX" - 2h:10m:43s it took 58 minutes to encode...

I wonder if I can use the same aprouch with HC encoder...

I will do a couple of more tests and, if the results continues to be the same, I will post a beta release soon.

      Cheers

      Neither can I

ReBuilder Pro ver 0.86 introduced OPV for HC, as per
"- Modified the HC One Pass VBR prediction and parameter passing to take advantage of the new version (HCBatch, v014 or above). Hank315 has modified the new version to limit maximum bitrate. This makes it possible to use HC OPV and remain within DVD bitrate limitations. Outstanding work by Hank315. This encoder is giving CCE a run for its money."

      2 more movies tested

      Hi,

Did test OPV (CCE) with 2 more PAL movies.
One of them "THE THIN RED LINE" - 02h:43m:37s took 1h:11m to encode.

The result is excellent although the final size (after authoring) is 4,28 GB. Don't know if this undersize is significant . . .

Today at evening, I will have a NTSC movie to test. If the results are OK you can count with a new beta release tomorrow !

      Cheers,

      DVDREasy

At 4.28gb it is not a problem, anything between 4.15 and 4.35gb is very much acceptable to me. We are talking about CCE encodes, not DVD Shrink where every damn byte counts

Ditto here.....actually 4.28 is better than 4.37 if you use cheap media...

      OPV in HC

      Hi,

I have almost ready OPV support for HC

the result is excellent although the final size (after authoring) is a little undersized (4.15 GB). I think I have to teak it a little to produce a more closer result (4.30 GB)

OPV in HC is slower than in CCE, at least in my Athlon XP 3200+ (movie 2H:10M) :
      CCE 2.50 ..........00:58:10
      HC 14 Beta........02:18:12

I will do a couple of more tests and post a new release soon . . .

Please post your results with OPV in CCE (DVDREasy 0.6.2)

      Cheers,

      DVDREasy

I did 2 movies with CCE 2.50 at OPV,both had a different output size....
      1 was 4.06 GB,(the smallest original)the other was 4.20 GB final output.....both are OK,great picture quality....

A little cosmetic bug in the log:

Path to Bitrate View is still listed, even if the program itself is not installed anymore...

      Yep,

This is because it still exists in dvdreasy.ini (from the previous version).

Thanks for posting the results !

      Here are the logs....

I added the final movie output size to them...

What's the most exciting thing,is that on a decent machine, you can get a movie done at high quality in less than 1h30,ripping included .....there's no excuse anymore to use anything else for movie-only.....
