      Thumbs up Succes!!!!

DvdrEasy is a great project, but I couldn't get it to work on my system.
This really pissed me off, because the program is the easiest one to use that offers the best videoquality for a movie-only backup ,by using CCE.
So I decided to start from scratch on a newly installed partition, only containing XP SP1.
No extra drivers or codecs installed, except the drivers that XP installs for recognised hardware,no other programs installed, just DvdrEasy and it's plugins.
      From the 1st try,it worked!
So I installed my Nvidia driver pack and tried again........failed
By uninstalling the drivers 1 by 1 manually and then trying to encode again,I narrowed down the problem to my vga drivers and the settings....
It found out that my screen resolution was the culprit......whatever refresh rate or colour settings I used,I could not complete the encoding as long as my screen resulution was 1024X768 !!!!.....Even at a refresh rate of 60hz and 16bit colour, while my monitor can handle easily up to 85hz @ 32 bit
From the moment I decreased my screen settings to 800X600,my encoding problems with DvdrEasy were gone, even at a refresh rate of 100hz and 32 bit colour settings......I dunno if it's a hardware problem or a bug,but I finally can get that fine program to work.....
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.....

strange that a resolution would cause an issue !? but for a change of resolution for a few hours is tolerable

but now we know what was causing your problems mate maby this will help others too as a temporary solution

RoadWorker, Glad you can finally work with DVDREasy !!!

About the problem that you describe...

      This is very strange

I'm also have a NVIDIA AGP CARD with the latest ForceWare drivers resolution 1280x1024 @85 Hz 32 bits and DVDREasy work well.

What brand/model is your NVIDIA CARD ? does it have TV tunner or other special function ?

I can´t see the connection here . . . DVDREasy proccess IS NOT display card dependent !

Maybe other people with DVDREasy problems could try your workaround and see if it works.

      Regards

Roady, glad to hear its all finally working for you. Determination succeeds in the end

I have an MSI built nVidia Ti 4200 with VIVO but running the MSI drivers rather than the nVidia "generic" ones and have no problems at any resolution or colour space.
      Cheers,
      CM

Well guys,my card is an Aopen Aeolus FX 5900XT without any bells and whistles.
I tried with several settings from the nview panel, qualitywise and speedwise......made no difference, neither did changing drivers.....
Anyway,I can finally use DVDREasy now, that's what counts...

      Update:

the movies I had succes with so far, were no long movies........just kids stuff that hardly needed re-encoding ,just removing a few trailers and audiotracks made them fit on a dvd....

Changing my monitor settings to 800X600 solved the "runtime error '5' invalid procedure call or argument" error, however,I found out that I still had problems with long movies that needed the full re-encoding procedure to make them fit......the error always occured when notepad had to write some info, right before bitrateview had to kick in...

Since I'm dutch speaking,I asked for and got an english version of notepad.exe from my good friend Viper_1069 and replaced my dutch notepad.exe with the 1 I got from Viper......
Surprisingly,I got past the bitrate view stage this time......seems to me that DVDREasy looks for an english version of notepad,or maybe the dutch 1 differs too much from notepad.exe in other languages........

But I'm glad I finally got it fully working.......

      hey good THEORY mate

how on earth did you figure that one lol !?

bit of an extreme solution but it works !?

maby you need english VB RUNTIMES TOO lol !?

have you tried now you got the english notepad.exe to use the higher resolutions doubt it will make a difference but worth a try for an experiment !?

maby also if DVDREASY could post a list of what versions of VB RUNTIMES he is using or someone with the same graphics card as you that has DVDREASY working at higher res then maby you can use the same runtimes !?

      just a thought

      Hi,

      I think I know what is going on . . .

      What DVDREasy does is :
      ------------------------
      - Open NOTEPAD
      - Paste the info grabbed from BITRATE VIEWER ( CTRL + V)
      - Then send the following KEYS sequences :
      ..................(ALT + F) - Open File Menu
..................(CURSOR DOWN 2 times) - position menu choice in SAVE FILE
      ..................(ENTER) - Choose SAVE FILE
      ..................(Name of the file)
      ..................(ENTER) - SAVE THE FILE

Perhaps, in Dutch version of NOTEPAD, the SAVE FILE is not the second choice of the FILE MENU.

ANYWAY, I will modify DVDREasy in a way that it doesn´t need NOTEPAD anymore.

I will post a BETA release here ASAP.

      Regards,

      DVDREasy
