      Can't complete the task

Right after Bitrate Viewer starts calculating,a notepad document appears and a small error window pops up.
The error message box header is "dvd1vas" and the error is:Run-time error '53' File not found.

      Few things attached :

      Hi,

After bitrate viewer do is job you should have a text file named "vsettings.txt" in your working directory.

As I can see in your attached files, that the text file doesnīt exists.

Did you had any other aplicattions running while the conversion process was executed ?

Only my firewall in the systray....just curious, the .txt file in my attachement,is that the one that's supposed to be in my working directory?
Because it pops up on my desktop just after the error window appears.

      Yep,

The .txt file in your attachement should be in your working directory. For some reason Notepad didn't save the file...

I'm working in a new release that will be compatible with windows 9x/me and also will have a tiny delay betwen "send keys" - DVDREasy controls the following aplications by "send keys" :
      BitRate viewer
      vobsub
      subtosup
      notepad
      ifoedit

The new release should be available soon.

THX for the info...looking forward to try the new version of your promising app...

Still the same problem with the new version on my computer..
Everything goes fine untill BitRate Viewer is almost halfway.
Then I still get the "file not found" error....1-2 seconds later, the missing txtfile appears on my desktop and a small tab pops up,asking if I want to save the txt file settings, since the contents are changed...
That txtfile should be in my working directory instead of on my desktop, right?
Could it be a problem that the path for my workfolder is on another partition?

      Hi roadworker,

Bitrate viewer should gone all the way. Because this tool doesnīt have a command line, DVDREasy is constantly analysing this process to see when its end. After 20 times of 0% CPU utilization by this process, DVDReasy assumes that the process as ended and begins the text copy process to a notepad document, then it will close bitrate viewer.

For some reason, this 20 time period of 0% of cpu utilization is not enough in your machine (wich is very stange - I tested DVDREasy on PII 450 and never had this problem)

Are you sure you donīt have anything else running ? Also, this could be a virus or worm eating your cpu utilization.

      Could you check it ?

Anyway, I'm also working on a solution to eliminate bitrate viewer from the conversion process. Bitrate viewer is only needed for getting some info about mpeg2 video stream (frame rate, Intra DC precision, etc). The calculation of the new bitrate for the video is maded inside DVDREasy.
I'm studing the mpeg2 Header structure. Soon I will have a new release that will not need Bitrate viewer anymore (I hope...)

Mine is a AMD 2600XP.....but my harddisks are connected to a Promise Ultra 100TX2 PCI IDE card, instead of to the motherboard ide controller.
      Could that be the culprit?
Also, there seems to be a compatibilty issue between AMD and CCE2.50,but since I don't reach the reencoding stage,I assume that this can't be the problem?

Mine is a AMD 2500XP running as 3200XP (11x200 = 2200 Mhz) and there is no problem with CCE 2.5. But as you said, You donīt even reach the reencoding stage...

      This is really bugging me

Are you saying that bitrate viewer donīt go all the way ?

I tried DVDREasy of several computers (PENTIUM & AMD, fast and slow) and never had this kind of error.

do you also have your HD connected to a ULTRA ATA PCI IDE CARD ?

Could you please describe your system configuration and attache your DVDREASY.INI

      Cheers,

      DVDREasy

      Bitrate Viewer Test

Could you both do the following test:

      - Open Bitrate Viewer
      - Open Task Manager, sort it by process and mark BITRATE.EXE
      - Put the 2 windows side by side
      - in Bitrate Viewer, open the VOB (VTS_01_1.VOB) from your working directory
      - Watch Task Manager to see if BITRATE.EXE process allways have activity until the Bitrate Viewer finish to analyse the VOB.

Roadworker, just a thought, your Working Folder is not a root directory of a HD (like E:\ ) is it ? If it is than thats the problem. I just reported that problem myself. The Working Folder MUST be a folder and not a root directory/folder.
      Cheers,
      CM
