virtual dub help

hi im opening an mpeg or avi in virtualdub 1.510 inclusive
and comes up this message do you know what it means

couldnt locate decompresser for format xvid [unknown]
virtualdub requires a video for windows vfw compatible codec to decompress
video. directshow codecs such a s those used by windows media player are not suitable only direct stream copy is available for this video
any ideas
this is the first time ive had any trouble with this and ive been using it for ages

First of all I'd suggest you upgrade your version of VirtualDUB, thats quite old

Secondly, I'd suggest you un-install what ever Xvid codec you have installed and download & install the latest BETA version from http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml
