Compatibility Problems

I'm having problems getting burned DVD's to play on my home player or even other computers. Anyone have suggestions on a player that is the best to play a wide range of DVD's? Or is ther a better brand of blank DVD's that are more compatible?

Thanks

"Better brand" in simple english means that there is a reference brand.
