If you have a Plextor drive... PlexTools Pro is an amazing set of tools... info, testing, extracting, burning. Free for Plex owners. http://www.plextools.com/download/download.asp

Otherwise I would have to go with Nero InfoTool http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
Also check out Nero CD-DVD Speed for info, benchmarking, and media testing. Both are Freeware

DVD Identifier... does the identify job like no other, and nothing else though... does one task only, but does it well.

Nero CD-DVD Speed will do both CD and DVD media bud. You can get the things you asked for... Disk type, Manufacturer, MID, Write speeds, capacity... as well as Benchmark, Disk Quality, ScanDisk.

As far as CD only... you will be hard pressed. There are old utilities I could point out, but they haven't been updated in quite some time. Without updates your media probably won't be recognised properly.

Are there other things you want these utilities to do that you did not mention???

Nero CD-DVD speed and Infotool can both report - sometimes one may pick up more than the other.

      http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download_utility.htm
For Liteon drives, The Smart-Burn utility also identifies media and the "smart-burn" speeds that will be used for it.

http://www.feurio.com/English/index.shtml also has a CD-R database, mostly relating to overburn limits ... not sure how much it got updated.
