      my computer is not reading DVD R

      Last night when I came back from work and try to burn some DVD using Recordnow, I put a blank DVD R in the writer and pressed burn, but Recordnow keep telling me to put an empty/blank disc in the drive and don't let me burn the disc, so I tried a few other DVD R and still the same, so I looked in My Computer and it showed no disc in the drive (when there is a blank DVD R in it), just about when I throught my writer screwed up, I put another blank DVD R in the DVD drive (not the DVD writer) and showed no disc in it as well. I then tried blank CD R in both drive and it showed up fine and both drive read everthing else fine but blank DVD R. I even restored my computer to a few days before just incase my brother change some setting on my computer but still just won't read or regonise DVD R, so is there anyone out there know whats the problem?

      Oh one more thing I forgot to mention is, when I put the DVD R in, Recordnow showed 4388mb free, so the progrem knows I got a blank DVD R in but the system is not regonisng it and not allow me to burn disc.

      Regards

      Ray

      this is quite normal; a blank disc doesn't have a table of content, so Windows reports it as no disc in drive;
      only your burning software should see the blank media;

      Re-Boot

      Sometimes with Nero 6.0, my machine will act the same way.

      Re-booting usually corrects it. Sometimes the disc is unusable and using another after re-boot will work.

      Good Luck
