Hi All,
I am new to all of this DVD copys and backups. What would be the best type of DVD to backup my movies on to, so that they can be played on my DVD Player? Is there a big difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers. |

Even more complicated, the acceptance of DVD-R or DVD+R by some platers, can also depends on what it was written by, and the quality of the media.
It's no good if your player works well with DVD-R, if you choose a rotten brand of DVD-R in a writer that's generally more capable with +R - for good playability, every stage needs to be good. Ritek G04 dye media (several brands) used to be pretty much a sure choice for good results in -R, but the fortunes of the Ritek name seem to be mixed - from starting off as a bit of a joke in CD-R, then turning it round to be well regarded, and getting a decent name in DVD media as well, they seem to be backsliding, with the quality of the cheaper brands slipping and sullying the Ritek name in general.

Just one thing to add.Best results are achieved when using recommended dvdr brands posted by your hardware manufacturer.Brands are usually in the manual that came with your hardware,or manufacturer website.Firmware upgrades are released every now,and then to add more brands, and write strategies, etc.
