Which X8 DVD writer to buy? PIONEER 107/SONY/NEC2500

Hi guys

i have a sony 500 X4 writer at the moment, only got it 6 months ago but wanna keep up to date and i am thinking of buying a X8 writer.
Wanted to ask members which is best of these three above? I want the one that will burn most disks at around x8 speed.

Are any faster speed writers on their way? should i wait?

thanks in advance
dave

i have a pioneer 107 mainly on the strength of the users here that own them and the fact that you can change the read speed and burn speed for other media's to burn at 8x with hacked firmware ....( A warning if you are not confident you know what you are doing with firmware then avoid! )

i think the 107 is a great burner

anyhow thats my opinion others here use other drives and swear by them too so each to their own the other consideration would be the price bracket pioneers can be cheaper than sonys and nec cheaper than pioneer so its swings and roundabouts for price ranges

The above brands are all fine...Bloody good then! But if you want to keep up to date Look out for plextor 12x. And on the other hand Sony/Liteon DL burns ...
Any way I.m very happy with the 2 Pioneers I have. Its all in your hands now....Just looking on the web just now.. you can pick up a Pioneer cheaper the the other brands you quoted...A07 or A07XLB

If you wanna backup your movies without reauthoring or recoding,go for a drive that supports double layer burning,or will support it with a future firmware upgrade...
