      compatibility

Unfortunately I regret to inform you that I am a virgin to this experience so to make this less painful for both parties I like it short and sweet, to the point and am open to tips for improvement. Now lets get down to business.....

I have been trying to burn data onto a Traxdata 2x dvd-rw via my Ricoh MP5125A dvd+rw/+r driver without result, is the compatibility problem as simple as a + and - discrepancy or do I need some Firmware that will form the solution.

I am operating on windows xp if that is of any help.

You hit the nail on the head - for a PLUS only drive, you must have PLUS media.

It doesn't help that it may be rather casually referred to as a "DVD-RW" drive.

Not many drives can be firmware modded, and on thos that can, it's a controversial hack as it evades format licence fees.

Simple answer, you need +R / +RW media.

      According to this chart http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/site/ima...tes/compat.htm
The drive is happy with most +R media, other than Datasafe 2.4x.
