Liteon Dvd Burner

can someone please tell me whether the LiteOn LDW-401S DVD+RW Burner is good or not? and which type of blank DVD's would they take i tried Shintaro 1X and i also used Futura 4X and with both these dvds once i tried to burn on to them my pc asked me to insert a blank media, is there any way i can fix this problem??

The burner is quite ok. Ive had it for a while and have had no real probs. Try updating to the latest firmware, as this might add support for your media brands.

i had just gone to that site and i couldnt actually find any firmwareto update it, would you know what its called so that i knowwhich one it is, im new to this so its abit hard. but thanks alot for your help its very appreciated.

DR4ES0J is the latest for the 401 - not sure if that had a released and pulled update the 411S did, with FS0G being realeased and then pulled - though there seems to be no solid info on the problem.


NB. Remenber the 401S is a DVD+R / +RW only drive - you mention 1x, and I have a vague feeling that +R was never released in 1x - if your media is DVD-R, it is the wrong media for the drive.

The problem concerning the latest 411s\811s frimware was a bug that destroyed dvd+rws burned at 2.4x.
