dvd/cd labels info req

would someone please explain to me this i have a - hp 690c printer that was given to me it works fine but id like to print labels for my dvd's and cd's but i dont know how to go about it ie what sort of label paper i need
i guess there's different kinds etc i the programe coverxp i dont want to get the wrong paper and make a balls of it or wrong type i just need to know what its called i have seen a few people selling different kinds of label paper on ebay so im a bit confused as to waht ill need to make good labels for the actual cd's them selves not the inserts the stick on type any directions on how to get it right would be nice

Only use pre-cut round labels and a proper applicator to centre them.
You often get an applicator with boxed reatail CD-R software - I did in the Nero 5.5 Retail box.

There are several "styles" of labels, with the placing of the two CD labels per sheet being either offset each way (typically PRESSIT) or in-line (often the BOMATECH).

There are also standard labels, and more recently "full face" with a smaller hole in the middle.
The Bomatech layout also includes hub rings, so you could print an additional piece for the inner, and lay that on the plunger before the CD.

For covers use Photo inkjet brilliant white paper & the cover proggy of your choice many to choose from

I'm using Neato/Fellowes software and CD-labels. Works fine for me. Get the box with paper and software and label applicator so u can start immediatly. Neato/Fellowes has several cd-labels, glossy or mat, just pick u prefer and can afford. Though glossy gives a more pro look, mat is just fine for me. The software Neato/Fellowes ships is called Mediaface. It's not that super but hey it works! If u want more sophisticated program that get surething cd labeler..it works with the Neato/Fellowes labels.

If you don't want nasty surprises, simply use a marker... or save $$$ to buy an inkjet printer which can print directly to suitably coated media.

I have used Neato software, but now broke down and bought an Epson 960 photo printer with the CD/DVD print kit to print directly on white-top disks, avoiding the label issue. Plus it does the best photos at (US) 8x10" I have ever seen. With 5mpixel Sony 707 digicam, the 960, and glossy photo paper, the 2-picoliter droplets and 4-color/2-black cartridge system gives me as good as 35mm prints from my $1000 Olympus OM-3 did!

My local computer fair has "Bomatech format" (but not Bomatch branded) labels - if you use a mix or styles these include (per sheet):
2x CD (standard)
2x Hub ring
2x Circle (same size as hub ring)
2x Spine edge label
4x Rectangle (suitable for floppy front)
