      Philips "bless" high capacity media

(copied from a CDR mailing list)
Subject: 90+ CDR disks now standardised by Philips.

Media Manufacturing Magazine "One To One" issue 155 june 2003 page 6
      left column middle:

"Philips has released a new document which describes High Capacity
Recordable CD-R disc, with a maximum single session time of 98 minutes,
29 seconds and 74 frames on 12 cm disks. For 8 cm disks, the playing
time will be roughly 30 minutes. A recorded High Capacity Recordable is
not fully compliant with the Red Book says Philips, but will be playable
on the majority of the installed base CD players. The release is seen as
an effort to standardise the format of higher than 90+ CD-Rs already in
production from companies such as TDK."
