      Trouble Joining Mpeg 2 Files

No matter what program I try, I only get video...no audio after joining 3 mpeg 2 files together. I tried TMPGE and Womble MPEG2 Editor, and neither worked. Any ideas out there. Yes, the audio bitrate was the same for both files...they were both made with the same settings on DVD2SVCD.

A number of people have reported this problem with joining MPEG2 together with TMPGenc but have found Wombles MPEG2VCR to work for them. I have never seen this proplem myself and still unable to explain why some people have the problem and others do not.

Re-install TMPGEnc and try again is all I can suggest, or try good old TMPGEnc ver 12a

It's got me stumped too, I've read those posts also, But never thought it'd happen to me. Really freaked when Wombles did the same thing!

Not even 12a solved this problem! I'm going to try on another computer tomorrow when my processor gets here. Odd thing is, I did this last week on 2 mpgs made with TMPGEnc....Maybe CCE (in DVD2SVCD) has something to do with it.

I use M2 Edit a lot, and join multiple MPG2 files together (and MPG1s together) all the time. Last year I finished digitizing all 5 seasons of Babylon 5 from VHS to MPG2 (SVCD) and cut out all the commercials, then joined all 5 pieces of each back together to make one 800mB SVCD MPG2 file. Not a skip in any. M2Edit 4.0 and 5.0 work great!

I often have the same problem converting SVCD rips to DVD.

Now I'm using DVD2AVI to create a d2v & audio file for each part and then using Avisynth & CCE to re-scale to DVD resolution and re-encode.

For the audio I use Besweet to re-encode to ac3 at 48 Khz and I use the delay setting from DVD2AVI's audio file to make sure that the audio remains in sync.

I then use DVDMaestro to join all the parts together and if I'm lucky enough to have an overlap provided from the original SVCD I can use Maestro to splice everything together (usually without a noticable join).
Just remember to add the audio after getting the video stream right otherwise Maestro won't sync the audio to the video stream properly.

I know this is alot of work compared to using DVD Patcher but many of the MPG files that I'm working with have errors in them. This prevents them being split into seperate audio & video streams by any other way.
