DVD-R won't play in Player!

my stand alone player will play anything but not my copied dvdr.
but it will play my rewritables that I have done.
just wondering why when using sonic myDVD3 to copy it plays my writables but not my copied cdrs.

oh forgot to tell u before I use sonic I used SmartRipper-DVD2AVI and then TMPGEnc to turn it into mpeg.
would nero turn mpeg to dvd so I can play it on my stand alone player and if so how do I do it.

have sorted it
it was my TMPGEnc settings which where set wrong.
now I can copy all my dvds and play them on my set top dvd player
