I've just bought a Philips 980 DVD writer/player, plus some blank DVD's from a company called f**pockets over the net.

The discs arrived no probs there, but when I put any of them into the writer I get the message "no disc/media present".

Here's the stoopid question, are all DVD-R/DVD-RW all the same, or are there types for data only?

I have noticed that the free disc that came with the writer say for general/video data, the ones I bought say for general use.

Any help would be appreciated.
