      Question DVD Splitting?

Hey all, a question. I have attempted to split a 6GB DVD into 2 3GB DVD's for playback on the home DVD Reader. One problem though, I have written 8 "junk" DVD's now attempting it, and nothing I do will allow the home DVD player to read them.

Used Smartripper, then ifoedit, then Nero to write the CD. Directory structure is correct, all files there, and the DVD Reader reads the other's I have writting. Any ideas?

Followed the other guide out here for ripping, and it works great on a single DVD, but the long DVD's, no go on the ripping.

Any idea's? Somthing I Have missed? Also, any idea how they get 8GB on a 4.9GB DVD? Seems a little freakish to me. Any way to duplicate the DVD exactly?

BTW, thanks to the author of the guide...WONDERFUL work there.

      Thanks!!

hey mate ...no way right now to do a 1:1 copy ... (dual layer discs) only DVD 5 can be copied 1:1

If splitting doesn´t work (it worked for me) ... u should take a look at the TRANSCODING GUIDE (CCE GUIDE)... --> changing bitrate = changing size ....
everything u need is in the tutorial section ... just put the tutorials together

btw. u should buy at least one DVD(+)-RW

      Wink

Thanks for the info, looking at what I was doing, it looks like ifoedit did not make the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP files in both of the directories (did not make them in either of the directories), so there was no way it was going to work. I copied them back to the directories I ripped to, and then re-ripped. Going to cut the smaller directory now and see where it goes from there.

Thanks for the heads up, and boy I wish we could do the 1:1 copy, that would be really sweet. But I guess multi-layer is just on the wish list right now.

      Thanks again!!

      Hi

I am also having this precious problem, did copying the VIDEO_TS.IFO files into the ripped folders work?

Some help on this would be highly appreciated, this is also driving me MAD.

      Thx, in advance....

hmm... U did this task some time ago...but I think the "problem" is that Ifo Edit doesn´t create the Ifo-Files ...IfoEdit only creates the Vobs ... just open Ifo Edit and press CREATE IFOS .... do it for both "discs" u have created ..,. and everything should be alright ...

      Hi

Done this m8, it does create the VTS_*1_1.IFO when you tick the funtion but not create the VIDEO_TS.IFO. I need to confirm with these files not being there will it play back in a stand-alone DVD player.

      Thx for the reply....

      no ... it wouldn´t play ....

if u r trying to split only the main movie ....
      1. let ifo edit split it ....
      2. delete every *.ifo
      3. create new ones ...for both ...
      4. don´t forget -_> GET_VTS
      5. everything should work now
