Media Player 8 not Playing DivX Picture only Sound

Windows Media Player 8 under XP will only playback
sound on some DivX films Converted With FlaskMpeg
and no picture. I do not have this problem under Media
player 7.1 under win ME which plays all the DivX films.
I play the films with MP 8 because of the Sound graphic
equiliser which is built in to alter the sound output while
playing the film.I would welcome any advise on good
alternate Divx Players that would have sound tone
controls built in ....

I had the same problem, its something to do with corrupt frame headers in the avi file... if you copy the file with virtual dub using direct stream copy for audio and video it should reconstruct the info and fix the file... If that don't work I recommend using MicroDVD...

The small util DivXFix will check for corrupted headers. Its attached.

I play all my DivX with WinDVD, excellent picture but I think it uses the WMP files to actually play them, not 100% sure there.

Have you tried The Playa, that comes with the DivX 4/5 Codec ?
