      Help With Vcd Please

IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN GIVE ME A HINT WITH THIS PROBLEM I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL:

I´M MAKING VCD WITH MOVIES OF MY OWN AUTHORING: I GET MY CAMERA GO FILM SOME OF MY FRIENDS AND THEN GET THE FILM CAPTURED TO DIGITAL IN MY PC THEN AFTER SOME EDITING I GET THE VIDEO TO VCD.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VCDS I´M MAKING PLAY WELL IN PCS AND PSX BUT A FEW DAYS AGO SOMEONE CAME TO ME WITH A DAEWOO DVD PLAYER AND AS WE WERE WATCHING THE VIDEO AFTER 15 MINUTES OR SO THE AUDIO TRACK STARTED TO CLIP AND MAKE NOISES.

I THOUGH THAT THE DISC WAS DEFECTIVE SO I PLAYED ANOTHER ONE MADE BY THE SAME PROCESS AND IT DID THE SAME.

THE PC I´M USING TO MAKE THE VCDS IS AS FOLLOWS:

      CELERON 266
      128 MB RAM
      20 GB HD ATA 66
      S3 VIRGE 8MB AGP CARD
      YAMAXA 724 AUDIO CARD
      DAZZLE USB (FOR CAPTURING VIDEO)
      PLEXTOR 16/10/40

FOR EDITING AND CAPTURING I´M USING THE "MOVIE STAR" SOFTWARE PROVIDED WITH THE DAZZLE (IT DOESN´T WORKS WITH ANYTHING ELSE)

FOR BURNING THE CDS I´M USING NTI CD MAKER 5, AND ALSO HAVE TRIED USING EZ CD CREATOR 4 (SORRY I WAS DESPERATED).

THE DAZZLE CAPTURES DIRECTLY TO MPEG WITH THE SETTINGS READY FOR VCD.

IF ANYONE NEEDS MORE INFORMATION TO GIVE ME SOME HELP PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

First of all disable please the caps lock when you type.

Second: each brand of DVD player works different.

      3) If the DVD player can read your burned VCD depends:
      a) normally dark layers of CDR are better (green or blue)
      b) try burn in a CDRW, normally work better.

      4) Look at h**p://www.vcdhelper.com/dvdplayers.php and verify all the settings and comments of your DVD player.

      Good luck !!!

Typing in capitals is considered SHOUTING in any forum on the Internet, so please turn it off.

The symptom you described tends to be related to the write speed when the VCD was burnt, so try lowering your CDR Write speed, I would suggest 4x.

I doubt there is a problem with the actual VCD as you say it plays fine on your PSX. The PSX would have to be one of the most fussy VCD players around. Try a different brand/type of CDR.

Some trial and error testing may be needed to find a suitable CDR media and write speed that your Daewoo DVD player.

I hope you dont mind my adding something here, but since you talk about PSX machines I have a quick question too. Are all PSX machine able to play a VCD or is there something I need to do to it first? Thanks......

Tron, the older larger Grey PSX can have a Gamers unit (sold under a million different names) added by plugging into its Parallel Port at the back. This allows you to play VCD's. Must be true to spec VCD's, anything a bit out of spec wont play.

The last model 900x did not have a Parallet port so one could be wired internally.

For the newer PS1, I am not aware of any addon unit that will allow it to play VCD's.

The PS2 will not play VCD's and I know of no addon to make it do so.
      Cheers,
