    1. i know its 4 sharing

I understand it should all be for sharing but i still want to be able to protect it( to a certain extent) , i am spending hours creating it and its no fun ripping a movie from dvd to vcd and then someone coming along an giving it to "everyone and his brother",then taking the credit for it. i just want it to be sacrid, (am i crazy ?).
i also know these things would be easy to crack but at least he has had to work for it.

I have never found a VCD that is not copyable. A VCD is a bit different from a normal Data CD, its more like an Audio CD realy.

You will never stop the copying of it but what you can do is put a 5-10sec Intro unique to your rips at the start of Disk one by actually merging it to the MPG file before burning to VCD. That takes a LOT of work and knowhow to remove. Even just a still graphics pic viewable for 5sec would still be good and again difficult to remove.

I have a 11sec intro "Entertainment in Video" as lead in to all my own rips so I can always identify them as mine.

Eaglem, yep always open to a good challenge!

Well it came close last night. It was an Original Silver from Hong Kong, movie was 88min long on one 90min CD. There were 2 DAT files. I thought easy, just extract the DAT files as MPG's and burn back out. Wrong, file 1 worked okay, 2nd dat gave audio only! All the dat to mpg tools I had did the same and all hung at about 75% through.. Copying the dat file to HD, gets 75% through then error after error.

I then used CloneCD and it copied it fine, but I will keep at it to get a working non-clone copy.
      Cheers,
      CM
