      Experimenting with DivX

Ok, so the past few days I've been messing around with Divx movies and am trying to encode Memento from DVD to DivX.

I can get the movie looking awesome but I'll have to span it onto numerous discs. My question is this: what screen resolution is the best to set it at? I don't want to lose too much quality, but i want to put it on two discs, three at the most. What can i do to get the size down besides the screen resolution?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

      Mike

Firstly, what method/process are you using? Have a look at the tutorial using Vidomie, simple to use and some great results. Just did Star Wars 1 onto 2x80 and looks fantastic.

I find, if the movie is 2hr long or more then make the pic smaller to compensate for lower data rate. Widths of 640 or 576 are good, height depends on original movie format.

      Divx 4.12

film length 2 hr bitrate 1000
      film length 1hr 30 min bitrate 2000
