Divx movies won't play back audio

I downloaded some Beavis and Butthead episodes a hile ago ( ) and had no problem playing them back. Recently, though, I can't play them back with the audio. I didn;t encode them myself, so I don't know what Divx version they are. I currently have 4.12 installed, and even installed 3.11a to see if that would play them back. No luck, but everything else Divx still works. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean. I've got both installed, and they used to work just fine. What else should I look into? The video works, but not the audio...

When you installed DivX 4.12 is should have asked if you want to use it for ver 3 decoding and a choice of Yes or No. What did you do there?

I have found with 4.12 and answering Yes to ver 3 decoding as well as installing ver 3.11a I have NOT found any DivX that I cant playback.

Since you say the AVI files are old, then they would not have been done with 4.x, they could also be SMR versions and you may need that small patch, which I have attached.

What player are you using to play the DivX, Windows Media Player, what version. Ver 6.4 seems a better player than 7.x. I use WinDVD 3.1 for my DivX playback.

I did answer yes, initially, and I use MP7 (I can't get to a lower version in Windows XP). I'll let ya know if it works, and if not... I can always switch players. Thanks for the help!

After uninstalling the v3.11a and reinstalling it (along with the patch), they eventually worked out ok. Thanks for the help! I think it may be the reinstall from 3.11a that did it, but I'm just glad it'll work now. Thanks
