      Question What is needed for playing .avi files?

      I heard a friend say that you could download some stuff and burn it on disc and then program your dvd with it.Is it true or does it need some chip?

      No DVD Player can play AVI files at this stage. To many variables, to many "standards".

      If in doubt, ask your friend where to download it from. The silence will be deafening.

      With so many avi formats out and it takes less space someone should be abel to make a program for the dvd to play them.
