ps2 too old to get modchip?

Ok here's the deal... I bought my ps2 right when it came out. Since then modchip's for the ps2 have been made so and so forth... So I go to this place to see if I can get a modchip. He say's my ps2 is too old and he want's me to give him 200 dollars (Canadian) for a new ps2, modded and with 3 burned games of my choice.

Can any of you come up with alternative ways on how i can get around this or ways how I could save some of my money?

Plz go to the backup forum and determine the Version of your ps2 by going to the Playstation Version Chart (it's a sticky). Once you have your version I'll let you know what modchips will work.

I think you're getting ripped off on the 200 CDN deal.

Did he atleast tell you with what modchip he's modding it with?
